LAURIE BARTRAM - PARTNER AND RIDER

Laurie has been riding since she was 9 and a keen showjumper. At 14 she left school to look after 14 horses at home herself whilst being taught by a tutor and taking vocational qualifications in horse care and management. At 16 she competed on her horse Man About Town (by Temple Der Konig) on the Spanish Sunshine Tour achieving two wins for Great Britain along with many placings on him and her other horse KWPN mare Night Mare (mother to the Elysian Twins). She was also competing on Temple Der Konig who came out of retirement to qualify for Scope and be placed at Hickstead alongside his stud duties.

In 2011, now 21, Laurie is one of the youngest women in the country to achieve a full Drivers CPC, Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles and her Class 1 enabling her to drive the 44 tonne articulated lorries belonging to our family haulage company Bartram Express Ltd. Laurie holds the Advanced Certificate in Equine Transport for both attendant and driver. This also means she can drive her own 18 tonne horse box all over the country. When she isn't driving for the company she is busy competing the horses bred and produced by our stud.

LAURA NEWSON - GROOM AND RIDER

Laura joined us in 2010 as an experienced groom and rider in every discipline. Laura has an extensive career as a groom and competition rider. She has achieved her NVQ level 3 in Horse Care and Management. She is a valuable member of the Elysian Team running the yard on a daily basis. She particularly enjoys bringing on the youngstock slowly and carefully and taking pride in their progress. She takes great pride in turning the horses out to a high standard and competing in her own right on Elysian Horses.

SARAH BRISTOW - BROODMARE AND YOUNGSTOCK MANAGER

Sarah is a valuable team member. Sarah achieved her NVQ level 2 in Horse Care and Management training with us as an approved training centre in collaboration with Broadlands Training. Managing the broodmares and foals to yearlings at Marina Home Farm she cares for the horses tirelessly. Sarah and Yvonne have spent many nights in the foaling boxes with the broodmares to ensure that foalings go well. This includes the surprise arrival of the Elysian Twins by Night Mare (Sofie). The twins had to be stabled for six months whilst their legs strengthened and Sarah devised her own methods of keeping the twins entertained including the use of cones and wellingtons! Sarah and Yvonne spend many hours together researching all aspects of breeding and the care of horses.

YVONNE BARTRAM - PARTNER AND GENERAL MANAGER

Yvonne came to her love of horses quite late in life and started riding at the same time as Laurie. She tends to spend her time on the ground and her great passion is in the care of the animals from the covering of the mares to the foalings, and their progress to the show ring. Yvonne is very interested in natural horsemanship. She is transport manager for Bartram Express Ltd and has a background in business management of 25 years. She holds the CPC in International Road Haulage Operations, two management diplomas, an NVQ in horse care and management and the Advanced Certificate in Equine Transport for both attendant and driver.
